Episode #2240 of The Joe Rogan Experience played host to legendary filmmaker Quentin Tarantino and his 'Pulp Fiction' collaborator Roger Avary. During the over-three-hour conversation, Avary touched on his stint in jail due to a vehicular manslaughter charge.
According to Avary, his year-long experience in jail, during which he was allowed to work by day but had to return to jail by night, resulted in some of the most harrowing moments of his life. Even more regrettably, they were daily occurrences.
Appearing on JRE, Avory said:
"The ecstatic experiences, and they were ecstatic, that I had in jail were like... Well, you see things kind of for real. When you see someone get hanged by their celly in a cell, or when you see, when you know the, 'Oh, that Salvadorian, MS13 hitman guy, he's gonna kill that guy dude.' He's gonna kill him in the yard. I'll go lock myself in my cell. Literally, I'll go lock myself in. Shut the door because you know sh*t is gonna go down. So, that was everyday."

Avary was displeased with the conditions of his first jail, which led to him being transferred to Ventura County Jail. Regardless, the experiences he recounted to the UFC commentator left him astonished. However, Rogan is no stranger to his podcast guests sharing horrifying personal experiences.
Fortunately, Avary's jail time transpired without further incident and he has since stayed away from any legal issues.

Tarantino, though, scrutinized Lee but was reluctant with his comments defining his appearance on the podcast. Nevertheless, it became a widely viewed clip on YouTube during a time when full JRE episodes were exclusive to Spotify.
